The face behind GreenJ

I'm Jo, the face behind GreenJ. After a stint living on the Scottish East Coast, I returned home to the beautiful countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales where I live with my husband, dog and two young children. This is where you'll find my little multipurpose studio, amongst the fields and trees that inspire so much of my sustainable silver jewellery.

Have I always been a silversmith? No, after completing a degree and establishing a career in an unrelated area I knew I wanted to have a go at silversmithing and, as so many people with a "have a go" attitude will understand, one thing lead to another and I'm now hooked! I'm so lucky to be able to balance two jobs that I love whilst spending time with my little family in the great outdoors.

I design and make each individual piece of jewellery myself, using only recycled solid sterling silver or purer. This means that all of my pieces are hard wearing, kind to the planet and infinitely recyclable. I never buy moulds or textured plates and instead prefer to collect leaves, shells and indeed anything else I find that catches my eye, and use these along with ancient hammering techniques to add natural texture to my pieces.
